Go Lightning
an album of old-time music
In 2011 the Jon Hogan String Band recorded 16 traditional songs in the old way, on half-inch tape, around one ribbon microphone in single day. Most of Jon Hogan’s arrangements are based on recordings made between 1927 and 1958, and many of the songs are included in the Smithsonian’s Anthology of American Folk Music and Mountain Music of Kentucky Vol. II. Dock Boggs, Clarence Ashley, Uncle Dave Macon, the Carter Family, Grayson & Whitter, Rutherford & Burnett, Bascom Lamar Lunsford and other old-time artists inspired the versions on this record.

We are fundraising to give Go Lightning the life we believe it deserves: a release on double LP vinyl and audio CD, with a documentary DVD and an illustrated liner book about the songs and the early artists who performed them.
