Go Lightning
an album of old-time music

In 2011 the Jon Hogan String Band recorded 16 traditional songs in the old way, on half-inch tape, around one ribbon microphone in single day. Most of Jon Hogan’s arrangements are based on recordings made between 1927 and 1958, and many of the songs are included in the Smithsonian’s Anthology of American Folk Music and Mountain Music of Kentucky Vol. II.  Dock Boggs, Clarence Ashley, Uncle Dave Macon, the Carter Family, Grayson & Whitter, Rutherford & Burnett, Bascom Lamar Lunsford and other old-time artists inspired the versions on this record.

  • Jon Hogan, guitar and vocals, Maria Moss, guitar and vocals, Eric Gerber, mandolin and vocals, Richard Bowden, fiddle, Sean “Cornbread” Andrews, washtub bass.
  • Produced by Stephen Doster, Jon Hogan and Maria Moss.
  • Recorded by Stephen Doster and James Stevens at EAR Studios, Austin, Texas
